C.R.I.S.P.

C.R.I.S.P.Carlow Rural Information Services Project, CRISP, consists of a network of computer training and access centres throughout County Carlow, which aims to provide under-served populations in rural and urban communities with low cost information communications technology (ICT) resources.

Carlow County Council is committed to ensuring that all the citizens of County Carlow enjoy equal access to local authority and public services, and following considerable research, identified a number of rural locations and Carlow town, for the provision of Rural ICT Access Services. CRISP will provide community ICT Access and Information Centres in the towns of Carlow, Borris, Ballon, Hacketstown and the village of Myshall.

The CRISP Centres have made available a range of information, including local authority and public services, and a programme of IT training to people in the most rural parts of County Carlow. Many rural areas of Ireland are suffering decline and disadvantage because of their remoteness. This project aims to address and reverse this trend in rural Carlow.

The following is a list of courses on offer in the CRISP Computer Training Centre, Myshall:

  • Beginner Computer Training
  • Computers Made Simple
  • Intermediate Computer Training
  • Internet & E-mail
  • E.C.D.L.

The Centre is also available for Internet access for all. Primary Schools in the area can also avail of the centre for training purposes.
